Timeline of Historical Events In Italy
Italy's Settlement & History on Dipity.
The timeline above has a lot of information involving the important historical events that took place in, and/or effected Italy. The settlement in Italy happened before 800 B.C. Rome was founded in 735 B.C. and in 31 B.C. began the rise of the Roman Empire. But over the next few decades Rome had struggled under the weight of the giant empire, which led to the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 A.D. Things started to look up for Italy when it became a unified nation in 1861. But soon after, in 1915 Italy had entered WWI on the side of the allies. Italy also ended up being involved in WWII where Italy sides with Germany. In 1946, the Italians had voted to end the monarchy! This is what made their nation become a democratic republic. In 1960, Italy faced an economic boom and had a huge turning point for their economic history. Another main event that took place in Italy was in 1984 which was a big turning point in history. The country no longer looks at Catholicism as Italy's formal stage religion. This seemed very surprising being of how popular Catholicism is in Italy or at least traditionally was. Italy has gone through a lot of historical changes over the centuries and it will only continue to change. The country has had great downfalls, but they do always seem to bring themselves back up.
